Portfolio 2026
Hi! I'm Harpaavan. I am a high school student in Grade 10. I am currently attending STEM Innovation Academy High School (STEMIA), which is a STEM-focused school in Calgary, AB, Canada. At STEMIA, I like to take the opportunity to explore different fields of STEM and use the resources available to build cool projects. This has led to me having an expansive skill set, ranging from graphic design, to 3D modeling, to drone flying, and much more. I like to participate in science fairs and mathematics competitions to showcase my work and add a competitive aspect into my projects. Outside of school, I like to volunteer and work with younger kids at the library. I also enjoy biking and playing tennis to keep myself active. As I go through high school, my aim is to expand my skill set, and apply some of my skills to real-world scenarios as I start to shape out my career path.
AstroBounce is an endless platformer game that I developed in Unity 2D and coded with C#. This is a space-themed game, in which there is an astronaut who bounds through the universe on cosmic asteroid platforms. The player is controlled by the space button. The objective is to get the highest score. All artwork is original and made in LibreSprite and Pixen.
Play AstroBounce →In this project, I developed a program that provided a more cheaper and accessible way to measure one's memory, helping to identify and treat memory problems early. To do this, I made 4 lab-based games that test a different aspect of one's memory. I used the Muse EEG headset to record the participants' brainwaves while playing these games and generate a report based on the results.
View the Project →This project aims to adjust one's ambience, such as lighting and sound, to match and improve their mood. I trained a Teachable Machine model that would detect a person's mood based on body posture. This was then embedded inside an HTML website which would change color and the song playing according to the mood detected.
Try a Demo →For this project, I coded my own portfolio website to showcase all of projects and achievements over the past few years, and also have a platform to continuously update any new work. Built with HTML, CSS and JS, this project acted as an gateway for me into the world of website design, allowing me to gain coding experience as well be able to ship my projects to the public.
Github Repository →Further built on my previous LEAD certification which included working with other peers to develop and present on a local organization in Calgary.
Collaborated with 3 other peers to develop and debate arguments regarding real energy issues in Alberta against Webber Academy in Calgary.
Assisting kids ages 5-8 in reading, writing and completing other ELA related activities while collaborating with other volunteers.
Assisted with organizing for Grade 9 Farewell, including communicating with school organizers as well as other volunteers to ensure a smooth event.
Annually competed in math contests offered by the University of Waterloo, applying classroom concepts to advanced questions in a timed environment.
Obtained a leadership certification through a program which included working with other peers to independently organize activites for younger kids.
Annually competed in my school and regional science fair (CYSF), having to develop a complete scientific project over the course of many months.
Teaching abacus mental math to students ages 5-13, while communicating with teachers and other volunteers on lesson plans.
Annually competed in the Canadian Kangaroo Math Contest, applying math concepts to complex questions in a timed environment.
